It seemed that nothing could prevent the swift rise to the top of the detective career of Adrian Monk. But the unsolved murder of his beloved wife, Trudy, was a blow too strong for the super professional. The experienced trauma led to serious psychological disorders that were completely incompatible with police work. And he had to leave the service. Now, Sharon, a nurse, is constantly by Monk's side, trying to help him regain his lost mental and physical strength. And gradually, Sharon becomes something like Dr. Watson to Monk, just as Dr. Watson is to Sherlock Holmes.
